The Vision for the SciDBs, Scientific Databases Wiki
The number of Scientific Databases that are now available online continues to grow. These databases vary dramatically in scope from chemical vendors databases simply listing commercial chemicals for sale, to government or academically hosted databases and from large repositories of variable quality data to highly curated datasets. These databases are proving to be of value to the community who are using the contents for the purpose of modeling, data-mining and integration into their own systems. Despite the availability of a large number of scientific databases there is no easy way to source information regarding what is available, what the community thinks of these databases and clustering of these databases into relevant categories. That is the intention of this wiki. It is a community resource for developers and users to share information about the various scientific databases that are available. We encourage you to participate by adding your comments and adding new pages!
 The Hosts of SciDBs
SciDBs is hosted for the community by two scientists interested in how Scientific Databases can contribute to science. These two scientists are specialists in their relative fields of chemistry and cheminformatics and in Drug Discovery.
if you liked this wiki please check out our wiki on scientific mobile apps scimobileapps.
We initially segregated the databases into Biology, Chemistry and Physics and will continue to expand as new contributions are added. We are interested in scientists who want to add to the pages any "science" related databases.
 Adding Data
A template has been created for you to use as the basis of each SciDBs article. Hopefully you are familiar enough with MediaWiki to create your own page. Once the page has been created then simply copy the text contained within the template into the page and edit as appropriate. The template is available by clicking on the word template in this sentence.
 Publications and Presentations
There are an increasing number of publications and presentations available that might be of value to you in keeping track of this area of development. We will continue to update this Publications and Presentations page. Feel free to add links as appropriate.

 Our Partner Site, SciMobileApps
SciDBs has a partner site SciMobileApps focused on Mobile Apps for Science. It is a community resource for developers and users to share information about the various science apps that are available. We encourage you to visit our partner site and review the state of Mobile Science.
